Types of Treatment Programs in Michigan

Although most people are aware of higher levels of care such as detoxification and inpatient or residential treatment, they you many not know about the importance of continuing care. The fact is that outpatient programs actually serve more people per year, as those with less severe addictions may not require inpatient care. There are three levels of outpatient treatment – Partial Hospitalization/ Day Treatment (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and regular Outpatient. These range in commitment from 5 full days per week, to 3 half-days per week, to about 90 minutes per week. Research has shown that longer-term engagements can be essential for stable recovery, so continuing with some form of outpatient treatment for several months is recommended as part of your continuing care.
