Montana Drug and Alcohol Rehab Centers

On average, Montana’s drug use is very similar to the average drug use for the rest of the country. Just under 3% of Montana residents abuse illicit drugs, this is the same as the national average. Drug use among young people is significantly higher in Montana than it is in the rest of the country though. In the state 12% of people between the ages of 12 and 17 reported having a dependence on some illegal substance. The national average for this age group was just under 10%. Montana’s rates of alcohol dependency are similarly higher than the rest of the country. Over 8% of the state’s residents are addicted to alcohol, while only about 6.5% of the rest of the country have this problem.

Rehab Admissions in Montana

In Montana, the most popular drug abused by residents is marijuana. Among those enrolled in treatment centers in the state, 47% said that marijuana is their most frequently abused drug. Prescription pain-killers are the second most frequently used drugs in Montana with 28% citing them as their biggest problem. Various stimulants were mentioned about 17% of the time, and heroin and cocaine were each listed as primary drugs for roughly 4% of patients.

In Montana, only about 9.5% of residents struggling with illegal substance abuse enroll in a treatment center. Rates of enrollment for heavy alcohol abusers are even lower; less than 2.5% of Montana’s alcohol abusers receive treatment. This leaves over 90% of drug addicts and over 97% of alcoholics without the treatment they need to recover from their addictions. It is strongly recommended that anyone with drug or alcohol dependencies seek the help of a rehabilitation center. There are many options available, and some find it helpful to contact a referral service in their search for a facility.

Montana has 50 different facilities offering treatment for drug or alcohol rehabilitation. Most of the facilities in the state are privately operated and owned, but there are several centers that are run by the local, state, or federal government. 27 of the centers in the state that offer rehabilitation programs also offer mental health services, the other 23 facilities only have programs for those seeking help with addiction recovery.
